The Maze Runner A-maze-es
The Maze Runner is a book written by James Dashner. The Maze Runner starts off with a young man named Thomas waking up in a moving metal box with supplies. Thomas has no memory of who he is or what he is doing in a metal box full of supplies.
He is brought out of the box by a group of men. The group of men, know as the “Gladers,” explain that Thomas is in the Maze. The Gladers have “Runners” that run out into the Maze every morning and try to map it and find a way out. However, the Runners have to be back to the Glade, a boxed area surrounded by the Maze, before night fall. All of the Gladers live and work in the Glade. All of the Gladers have a special part they play in making sure the the Glade is a livable place for everyone.
Later on in the story, the Gladers find out that they were put in the maze by the government because…Well, you will have to read the book to find out!
When all of the Gladers could not put up with the Maze anymore, they left the Glade and ran through the Maze looking for a way out, fighting off Grevers, spider-like creatures, in the process. Many of the Galders died trying to fight off the Grevers and while others find a way out of the Maze.
My opinion of the book is that it is a very compelling adventure. There is never a dull moment in the book. It is a good read for all ages. When you are home alone and have nothing to do, The Maze Runner would be the best book to pick up and start reading. It has been know for one can get lost in the reading and finish the whole book in just a few hours.
My recommendation is that no matter how old you are, you should pick up The Maze Runner and give it a try. If you have read and liked The Maze Runner, you should consider continuing reading the series with The Scorch Trials and The Death Cure.
