Shortage of Chocolates

There’s no delicate way to put this: you’re eating too much chocolate. Whatever your New Year’s resolution may have been, it’s not working. If you keep this up for much longer, we could all be headed straight to our chocolate-less dooms.

One of the main causes of the chocolate shortage is the supply issues. Dry weather in West Africa, where most of our beloved chocolate is produced, has greatly decreased production in the region. A disease called frosty pod has also contributed to the decrease.

The world’s ever-growing appetite is another cause of the decrease in chocolate. A particular concern is the growing love for the stuff in China, but still they only consume 5 percent of what the average Europeans eat. There’s also a rising demand for dark chocolate, which contains a good deal more cocoa by volume than traditional chocolate bars.
