Girls’ Tennis Season Begins
The Brookfield Central Girls’ Tennis teams started off their season on Aug. 12. Throughout the week, tryouts were held for varsity, varsity reserve, JV silver (upperclassmen) , and JV Blue (underclassmen).
The roster for the 2014 varsity team consists of of Sasha Semina (‘18) playing number one singles, Libby Protz (‘15) playing number two singles, Saloni Rao (‘16) playing number three singles, and Claire Alderton (‘16) playing number four singles. The doubles lineup includes Hannah Sekeran (‘15) and Annie Porritt (‘15) playing number one doubles, Santhosi Samudrala (‘15) and Alex Yavilonvich (‘16) playing number two doubles, Michaela Evanich (‘16) and Shay Puidokas (‘16) playing number three doubles, and Sarah El-Meanawy (‘15) and Elizabeth Peterson (‘18) playing number four doubles.
The Lancers began the season with a tournament at the Brookfield East Invite Aug. 19-20, which comprised of more than 16 teams from all over the state. After winning their first round against Kettle Moraine, the team was able to travel to the championship and placed eighth overall after several close losses.
The tournament was a great way to kick off the 2014 season, with the teams looking forward to more success throughout the rest of their season.
