Brookfield Central Mock Trial: Wins/Accomplishments
Highlights from an amazing season thus far!
This past weekend (February 12th and February 13th), the Brookfield Central Mock Trial consisted of four Teams: Team 1, Team 2, Team 3, and Team 4. They competed in the regional competition to qualify for state. Team 1 consisted of the co-captains Cynthia Lu (‘22) and Abbey Prudlow (‘22), and a few other seniors. Team 2 consisted of Shaheer Siddiqui (‘22), Sanjana Srinivas (‘23), and a few juniors. Team 3 consisted of Alana O’Neill (‘23), Gabi Stawski (‘23), and 3 other juniors and 1 sophomore. Finally, Team 4 consisted of Ram Vaidhyanathan (‘23), Richard Lobo (‘23), and all the new people to mock trial. Teams 1, 3, and 4 competed in Region 4, and to the delight of those participating, Team 1 won within their region and are now going to compete at the State competition on March 5th. Following close behind their successful teammates, Team 3 came in 5th place overall and Team 4 came in 7th place overall. However, Team 2 competed in a different area, Region 6, and came in 3rd place overall. Overall, each team did an amazing job in their trials and made BC proud!
Looking at the stats, this is Team 1’s second time qualifying for state. This is a big accomplishment for BC’s Mock Trial team overall because, when starting out, the teams barely won any scrimmage, which is a Mock trial meet, but now are qualifying for the highest level of competition while learning a lot about law.
Some other accomplishments BC’s Mock Trial has had this season include: Team 1 not losing a single trial, Team 2 being the runner up in the Appellate Court Division for one of the scrimmages held at BC, Team 3 came in 5th place with just half their team (2 wins and 1 loss), and Team 4 was the District Court Division champion for one of the scrimmages held at BC. This was an amazing year for BC’s Mock Trial and have more amazing years coming in the future.
