From February 26-28, 44 BC DECA members competed in the State Career Development Conference (SCDC) hosted at the Grand Geneva Resort and Spa. These state qualifiers not only competed in their own roleplay events but also gave an in-person presentation to business professionals in Wisconsin. Over the last 2 months, BC DECA has worked hard to make posters, slideshows, and write their 10-20 page paper for their project, and their efforts did not go unnoticed! 28 Lancers will be competing at the International Career Development Conference hosted in Anaheim, California at the end of April.
Brookfield Central competed against more than 1000 students from 6 districts across Wisconsin. Competitors adapted to spontaneous scenarios within marketing, finance, hospitality, and more. Individuals and teams at SCDC combined their talents and industry knowledge to come up with comprehensive solutions to the various prompts they were given.
Using creative decision-making, strategy, and innovation, BC DECA achieved success at the competition with multiple state champions, including Emma Fellows & Maggie Feng (‘24), Avni Verma & Mira Joshi (‘25), and Swara Inamdar & Alice Chen (‘25). In addition, Ashriya Rajesh (‘25) presented her initiatives as a candidate for one of the 6 Wisconsin DECA State Officers to a group of voting delegates and earned her new position as one of the Vice Presidents. She will be working behind the scenes to provide DECA members with a memorable experience at future events held at the state level.
Brookfield Central’s achievements not only speak volumes about the capabilities of DECA competitors but also demonstrate their commitment to excellence. In taking opportunities to participate in DECA competitions, students gain countless valuable skills that prepare them for success after graduation.
