The BC Theater Department performed the classic Broadway show You Can’t Take It With You from February 1st through February 4th in the Black Box theater. First premiering in 1936, the show portrays Alice Vanderhoof attempting to manage her strange family with her fiance Tony Kirby’s own family, a much more serious and no-nonsense group of people.
A decently sized cast for this play, many seasoned BC actors participated. Andrew Kindler (‘24) portrayed the main head of the household, Martin Vanderhof, an old man who lives only to relax and enjoy himself. Isabella Krynicka (‘25) played Alice, a young woman deeply in love but is stressed out from trying to make her family appear as not being totally nuts.
I really enjoyed this performance with the humor particularly standing out as the funniest play I have seen at the Black Box thus far. The leads of Kindler, Krynicka, Luke Field (‘25) as Tony Kirby, and Zach Procopis (‘24) as Mr. Kirby all gave the show great energy. The rest of the cast also played a big part in the production as virtually all characters had an important role in every scene.
Look out for the upcoming Clue play on April 24-28 and the Studio Show All the Places You’ll Go in May.
