As April comes to a close, many high school students face the grueling, disastrous task of Advanced Placement Exams. You survived the last two semesters with the classes you signed up for over a year ago to look smart and challenge yourself a bit. And somehow, you took the exam to hopefully give you college credit for them. Many teachers encourage you to take the final exam and study throughout the year and revisit old topics and content. Instead, most of us sign up to take the test and don’t think about it. However, when Mr. Gruetzmacher mentioned it in the announcements a few days before spring break, we all remembered. We told ourselves we would study furiously over spring break, go through each chapter in the car ride, or watch videos on the plane. But in reality, we opened the book for fifteen minutes maximum and decided we needed a break and to relax over spring break. Here are some tips for late studying and cramming for the AP Exams in early May.
There are about 27 AP exams from Monday, May 6 – Friday, May 17. I know I did not prepare correctly for my AP exams and to be honest I am not stressed at all. These classes did nothing but benefit me and give me a leg up for my future college courses. If I do not get the credit that is totally fine. It is one test that does not actually reflect how good of a student you are. Colleges don’t even see it unless you want them to. Just remember it is one test and you probably won’t remember it in a few years. It may suck in the moment to sit there and feel stupid, but it is not the end of your life. And if you are one of the few, smart, responsible, students who has been studying for a long time, props to you, don’t overthink, it’ll all pay off. Good luck to all the advanced students and academic weapons of Brookfield Central! After AP exams are over, only 20 more days until summer!!!!
