The Brookfield Central Girls Volleyball(BCGVB) varsity team had an exciting and memorable 2024 season. With its many outstanding players, the team worked hard throughout the last three months. This year’s team has a blend of three freshmen, one sophomore, six juniors, and four seniors. The captain this year is Molly Daugherty (‘26)
With the conclusion of the season, the team will be saying goodbye to four seniors: Ella Heideman, Emma Koceja, Danielle Gregory, and Misha Maheswari. When speaking to Danielle Gregory (‘25) a DS/libero; one of the things she is going to miss most about BCGVB is all girls on the team. She said “I have cherished every moment with them. I will have friendships for a long time. I will miss playing with every member and spending time with them weekly.” Her fellow senior teammate, Ella Heideman (‘25), a right side, says one of the most important things for incoming freshmen to remember is to “ not take your time in high school for granted because it goes by so fast!” She says getting involved and joining sports and clubs will make an extremely enjoyable year.
The team also wholeheartedly welcomes its incoming freshman. Carolyn Gaunt (‘28), one of the four freshmen, has shown extreme dedication to her team this season. While initially full of anxiousness when receiving her varsity offer, Gaunt quickly came to realize that she was in for a fun fall. She quickly became close with Kendall Staz, who plays a DS/Libero position. Carolyn said that her high school volleyball experience was better than middle school because of her awesome teammates, and she looks forward to her next few years of playing at BC.
This is also the inaugural year of Coach Karly’s coaching at BC. She is assisted by Coach Tiffany, who will be returning for her fourth year at Brookfield Central. Karly was especially excited about this season because she was interested in seeing how the “girls’ personalities and work ethics came together to gel and work as a team.” Coach Karly learned a lot this season and is ready for the 2025 season, where her newfound experience from last year will definitely help her in coaching the team to success.
This season was filled with amazing games, friendships, and memories. With the conclusion of the school season and the commencement of the club season, the Brookfield Central Girls Volleyball team will continue to work hard and continue to achieve new goals.
