Brookfield is home to two strong high schools, Brookfield Central and Brookfield East, both part of the highly regarded Elmbrook School District. Each school has superb programs, excelling in different areas. This article will compare their academic strengths. While there is no definitive “better” school, each school’s strengths and weaknesses will be highlighted.
First, regarding academics, both Brookfield Central and Brookfield East have impressive statistics. GPA, ACT scores, and AP participation data were gathered from the Elmbrook School District High School Profiles. The mean GPA of the graduating class of 2023 at Brookfield Central was 3.775, while Brookfield East’s was 3.836. Both are strong numbers, though Brookfield East’s slightly higher GPA indicates a marginally stronger overall performance by its seniors.
Additionally, the mean GPA of the top 10% of the class at Brookfield Central was 4.717, compared to 4.729 at Brookfield East. This small difference suggests that the highest-achieving students at East had slightly higher GPAs on average, contributing to the school’s overall stronger academic performance.
Regarding standardized testing, the average ACT score for Brookfield Central in 2023 was 23.9, while Brookfield East’s was 23.3, indicating that Brookfield Central students, on average, performed better on the ACT.
