As technology improves, there becomes little room for error. Every once in a while a malfunction might occur and you might think that it might not be that important. While most malfunctions are harmless, when it comes to planes it can put people’s lives at risk. February 17th a plane crashed while landing in Toronto and aid is currently being given to the survivors.
To this moment the cause of the crash is unknown and aviation officials are looking into the matter. “The National Transportation Safety Board is leading a team of investigators in the United States to assist the Transportation Safety Board of Canada with the investigation into a Delta Air Lines plane that crashed on landing in Toronto,” Delta claims federal administration investigators are on their way to Toronto to offer assistance to the Canadian airline services.
On Delta flight 4819 there were 80 passengers and 4 crew members, none of them deceased. Delta also claims that “Several customers with injuries were transported to area hospitals. Our primary focus is taking care of those impacted.” Right after the plane crash a passenger captured a video and stated “I was just in a plane crash, oh my God.”
This example of a plane crashing proves that airplane technology while amazing and fascinating should be more researched and improved. Even though the odds of your plane crashing is 1 in 11 million, there is still room for improvement and we should have more people focus on minimizing that chance. Many things can go wrong when you are on a flight such as unpressurized cabins or instrument failure, meaning that airports should take more precautions.
Overall, the odds that your plane will crash are very minimal, but would you want to take the chance that your plane will crash over weekly check-ups almost guaranteeing that your flight will make it safely. Again this is a very interesting situation that should be further researched to further our understanding of plane crashes.
