Brookfield Central’s HOSA traveled to the Kalahari in Wisconsin Dells to compete at the State Leadership Conference (SLC) from April 6th-8th. With over sixty students competing, BC’s program was the third largest at the state competition. Spanning across eighty different competitive events, BC HOSA took home many awards and accomplishments from the competition.
HOSA is a national organization for those interested in a future in healthcare. Students have a variety of events to choose from, whether it be Veterinary Sciences, Medical Law & Ethics, or Biomedical Debate. The competitors had the opportunity to compete, receive feedback, attend an exhibition with multiple medical vendors, and of course visit the waterpark.
Many BC competitors qualified for ILC, The International Leadership Conference, which will be held in Nashville, Tennessee at the lavish Gaylord Opryland Convention Center. Around 10,000 HOSA students from all around the world compete at ILC and around 20 of them will be BC students this year. Historically,BC has performed very well at the international competition, with Vivash Venkat ‘25, Ilija Stefanovich ‘25, Bijal Shrestha ‘26, Nish Kumar ‘26 all placing in the top ten in the world at last year’s competition. Aarushi Banerjee ‘26 also made school history as the first ILC winner from the school. BC’s Hosa team will hopefully place similarly at this year’s competition!
