Prom is right around the corner and if you’re still dateless—fear less! Using my plenty of experience in securing prom dates, I have constructed a step-by-step tutorial on how to make sure you aren’t lonely on prom night. Whether you have a target in mind or just want a casual evening with a friend, here is your stress-free guide to the perfect prom.
First, if you haven’t already, check who is still single and ready to mingle. With one week until the big night this can be very challenging, but I can guarantee you, not everyone is taken. One method I like to use is called the “table method.” Navigate to the prom table arrangements online and look for tables that aren’t full. These tables might have a straggler or two. A perfect way to do this is to look for tables with an odd number of people.
When you find a table with five, seven, or nine people, make sure to celebrate—from here it’s really easy. Contact someone from the table and ask who is taken. If you are socially awkward or nervous to reach out, you can check social media and use the “promposal method.” The “promposal method” involves using social media to look for promposals that have already happened. Usually, a girl will be standing next to a fine gentleman holding a sign with a cliche message on it. If you check social media or contact someone from the oddly numbered table and someone is free, celebrate again—especially if you find them attractive.
The next step is very important so focus up. Utilizing social media, mutual friends, or the elementary phone book (make sure it’s the one from YOUR class—not a recent one), and find the prospective dates’ credentials and contact information. Using this information you can send a text message with something lighthearted and casual. If they reply quickly you are in luck, they are definitely interested. Don’t waste time—reply fast. My advice on replying is to be honest; explain your situation and how desperately you need a date.
When you send such a straight-forward message you make sure not to waste time. Their response will either disappoint you or make your week much easier.
If they are interested, you can relax, from here there’s not much more planning you have to do.
If they aren’t interested, it is okay. There are plenty of fish in the sea, but you don’t have infinite time. Make sure you don’t let the rejection get to you and start back at step one.
