2025 has turned out to be one of Brookfield Central’s best years for track, for both boys and girls. With an array of talented athletes dominating in every event from distance to discus, Brookfield Central’s track program is in an incredible position to take home some impressive titles during this year’s championship season.
The indoor season was off to a great start with both boys and girls taking home the Greater Metro Conference Indoor Championship win. Both teams dominated at their respective meets, winning by over twenty points. Many BC athletes placed incredibly well in all events, with many of them clinching gold. Kenny Rinkam (‘27) dominated in every sprinting event, winning the 55 meter dash, the 200 meter dash, and the 400 meter dash. Other standout performances from the girls meet include Lily Michalski’s (‘27) 1st place finish in the 3200 meter run and 3rd place finish in the 1600 meter run, Emily Summers’ (‘25) 2nd place finish in the 400 meter run, the 2nd place 4×240 team, and the 2nd place 4×400 team. The boys placed similarly with wins in the 55 meter dash (Frank Wiedmeyer ‘25), 400 meter dash (Bobby King ‘25) and the 3200 meter run (Owen England ‘26). With a standout indoor season, both teams were set up to have a successful outdoor season.
Athletes had opportunities to prepare for the outdoor championship season with many varsity meets. The first meet of the championship season was conference relays, where every event is competed and scored as a relay. The boys took home a team win and girls were runner ups. Standout performances include the winning boys sprint medley team, girls sprint medley team, girls 1600 meter run relay, and the boys long jump relay. The boys 3×110 hurdle relay, girls high jump relay, boys pole vault relay, girls pole vault relay, girls long jump relay, boys discus relay, girls discus relay, and boys shot put relay all placed 2nd. Next came the outdoor conference championship where the girls won the conference champion title and boys took second. Once again Rinkam and King dominated in sprint events. After a successful conference meet, athletes were fired up more than ever to clutch the regional champion title for both boys and girls, at home.
Brookfield Central is bound to have a great showing of athletes at the upcoming sectional qualifier and the state championship. With many of these athletes being underclassmen, BC should be holding on to this track success for many years to come.
