Life is Strange, an episodic adventure game by Square Enix’s External Studios, has been around for a decade. The game follows Max Caulfield, an 18-year-old photography student who discovers she has the power to rewind time. This game allows the player to make choices, resulting in multiple endings. Recently, Amazon MGM Studios has greenlit the pitch of turning this video game into a TV series.
The first point of controversy with this adaptation is the gameplay. In the game, you are allowed to make choices and change the story. The butterfly effect is a recurring motif, but if the game is adapted to a TV show that lacks multiple endings and choices, the butterfly effect is no longer prominent. Additionally, all choices will be made, and one choice will become “canon” to the latter.
Also, the casting is an issue amongst fans. There have been theories that Emma Myers will be playing the protagonist. Some fans are upset and want unknown and new actors, while some are happy to see a well-known face bring the project to life.
