As surreal as it sounds, the class of 2026 are now seniors. From the last first day of high school to their very last homecoming, September has been a month marking the beginning of the end of our seniors’ BC journey.
Many seniors call Senior Sunrise their favorite senior event so far. River Foy says, “Senior Sunrise was really fun, more fun than I was expecting because it was the first time I really felt like we were together as a senior class.” Senior Sunrise is a tradition in which the seniors gather together in the early morning to take pictures with friends and enjoy the view. Brady Heisman says, “Senior Sunrise was a great way to begin our senior year, it felt very symbolic.” Heisman is also preparing for his very last fall musical. He said, “I joined a little late, but it’s so much fun and it feels so great to be around these people again. It’s a lot of work, but the show is really amazing and I’m excited that it’s my last one.” The show Something Rotten features a dedicated cast of seniors and will open on November 21st.
While many have participated in previous years, Senior Nights have a special significance for our senior fall sports athletes. Sports like football, soccer, and golf have already honored their seniors. Varsity tennis player Shloka Gupta says her Senior Night was more emotional than she was expecting: “I’ve always thought senior night was a nice recognition, but now that I myself am a senior, it was a lot more emotional and I really felt that it’s the end of my time with BC tennis.”
Another popular September activity is the Powderpuff. Shar Fernando says, “Powderpuff is probably my favorite senior activity so far. I got to be with my friends and we were more competitive this year, so it felt really good to win.” The 2025 Powderpuff game featured a flag-football match-up between the juniors and seniors, and kicked-off homecoming week.
In just the first month of the school year, so many lasts have passed for our Lancer seniors. We will continue to celebrate Senior Nights for winter and spring sports, and special senior activities such as Senior Ball and the Spring Fling assembly are months away. We still have a long way to go until graduation, but it won’t be long until senioritis sets in.
