Brookfield Central sent two teams to compete in the 2015 Wisconsin Regional High School Science Bowl, held at the Milwaukee School of Engineering Jan. 24. With 2015 being the third year that Central has competed, the two mostly-senior teams almost made it to the double elimination round. The A team consisted of Adam El-Meanawy as team captain, Suzy Kim, Sarah El-Meanawy, Brian Zhu, and Tarun Jella while the B team was made up of Lily Chen as captain, Santhosi Samudrala, Tyler VanHaren, Brendan Reed, and Zoya Ammar. Their advisor, Mr. Wilkinson, oversaw the trip.

The competition is held in a quiz-bowl type format at the state and national levels, featuring questions about knowledge in various scientific fields. The goal is to answer the most questions correctly, thus scoring the most points, with some questions being worth more than others. In the first stage, the round-robin, each team plays four rounds, with a rest period sometime in between. The top two teams of each pool of five teams then continue on to the elimination stage, and the winner of which is then eligible to attend the nationals competition. This year, the B team did not make it to the double elimination round, falling just short of qualifying for it by finishing third, with a win-loss ratio of 2-2. The A team, however, proceeded, playing against (first team in double elimination) and Catholic Memorial 1. The round initially ended in a tie, but Central lost to Catholic Memorial in a tiebreaker.
