Andrew Rhode (’22) on basketball, the future, and more

Andrew Rhode (‘22) has been a household name for Brookfield Central Lancers. A member of the 2019 state championship team, Rhode has been a prominent player and a playmaker in all phases for BC basketball for the past 4 years. As a result, Rhode officially committed to play basketball for the University of St. Thomas this past fall and looks to send one last message after an incredible 4 years. 

 

Question: What’s the most exciting aspect of playing college basketball in the coming years?

Answer: It is gonna be an amazing experience and it is something that I have dreamed about since I was a kid. Knowing I’m going to be playing basketball and going to college is a dream come true.

 

Question: What type of impact would you like for the St Thomas’s basketball team?

Answer: I want to do anything my team needs me to do to win. Freshman year is really about learning your role on the team and I am excited to see what I can bring to the team.

 

Question: What are some bigger goals you have for our future?

Answer: Some bigger goals I have for the future is developing my game to hopefully play professional basketball overseas if I can.

 

Question: Despite committing for basketball, what inspired you to play soccer as well?

Answer:  I played soccer my freshman and sophomore year. My friends/teammates convinced me to play a couple days before tryouts and I am very glad I did. It was a lot of fun for my last year of High school and it was an awesome experience playing for Coach Makal.


Question: As you conclude your final year, what is your favorite memory from BC?

Answer: My favorite memory is winning state my freshman year, and I am excited to make more memories in my last year!
