As the school year winds to an end, BC students have been looking forward to the last few days of the 2023-24 school year. However, for the class of 2024, June brings the end of their high school experience as they move on to the next chapter of their lives. Although all graduating seniors have made tremendous achievements throughout their high school careers, one student in particular, Vedant Shukla, has gone above and beyond to demonstrate academic excellence during his time at BC and has been recognized as the Class of 2024’s Valedictorian.
Vedant Shukla, a member of HOSA, Key Club, Science Olympiad, and National Honor Society, earned an impressive GPA of 5.009 from taking various college-level and difficult courses. Outside of school, he actively demonstrates his commitment to his community and service by serving as an avid volunteer at Ascension Hospital. In his free time, he also enjoys playing guitar, balancing his passion for music and his studies. Reflecting on his time in high school, he shared that one of his favorite classes was AP Environmental Science with Mr. Gryzwa.
When asked how he was able to juggle his busy schedule, he answered, “Prioritization is key to good time management—spend time on the activities that you are passionate about or are worth the effort”. This approach has undoubtedly helped him excel in and out of school, as he balances his hobbies with his schoolwork.
Every year, the graduating class anticipates the valedictorian’s speech at graduation, which Vedant already has outlined. After graduation, Vedant is excited about the prospect of “getting to bond with new, interesting people” in college.
Vedant’s time at BC has been filled with outstanding achievements and a dedication to personal and academic growth. His advice for underclassmen and incoming seniors? “Don’t underestimate yourself—keep pushing because you can do it!” His hard work and dedication have set a high standard, inspiring others to strive for excellence. We are all excited to witness more of Shukla and the graduating class’ future successes, knowing that they will continue to make a positive impact after graduation.
