True Blue a cappella, otherwise known as TBA, is Brookfield Central’s only a cappella group, and they attend competitions and perform at public events. There are 21 members, both boys and girls, and the group is student-led by presidents Brooklyn Hoffe (2027) and Adi Vijayanand (2026).
Until now TBA has had many chances to showcase their singing abilities to the public. For example, at trunk or treat they got to sing various Halloween songs including Monster Mash by Bobby Pickett and Thriller by Michael Jackson. TBA also had the opportunity to open for the Wisconsin Singers, a performance group from UW-Madison. They sang their set of Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson, Trashin’ the Camp from the movie Tarzan and Music for a Sushi Restaurant by Harry Styles
TBA will be competing at ICHSA (International Championship of High School a cappella) in Minnesota on February 21, 2026 where they will compete against other a cappella groups throughout the United States. They will also be competing in Acapocalypse in April 2026, an annual a cappella competition held at Washington High School where the competing groups range from high school to college level.
If you are considering auditioning for TBA, there is a simple process. First, ask Mrs. Hickman, the BC choir teacher, for the sign-up and then determine a date for your audition. During your audition you must have a pop song ready to perform. You will sing your song for the TBA presidents and Mrs. Hickman along with repeating a melody, sight-reading test, and a range test assessment.
In summary, TBA is a really talented group of students that are all truly dedicated and have so much passion for what they do. It is an amazing club where you can meet new people, grow as a singer, and take advantage of exciting performance opportunities.
