Since school is pretty much over, it seems like everybody is outside enjoying the weather, and classes have begun to tick at a snail’s pace. The senioritis has set in for many who feel that they just want the school year to come to a close. Since college acceptances have rolled it, high school is beginning to feel like a chore for many seniors. According to some, they don’t even take their backpacks out of their cars anymore, but rather just leave them there for the next day. Others feel like they should be doing stuff but they have nothing to get done.
Some seniors recommended their tips for combating the end-of-year slump. They suggested breaking down homework and projects into small, manageable pieces and setting aside time to goof off instead of messing around while homework lingers. Others highlighted their fun reward systems, like balancing finishing studying for finals with the promise of going to SJV fest later. Other seniors are simply reminded by the fact that their college acceptances can be easily rescinded if given the chance.
Senioritis isn’t just for seniors, too. The beautiful, 70 and 80 degree weather has felt like a blessing and made being inside the longest part of the school day. Also, the atmosphere of last term doesn’t help. The final term has field trips, multiple assemblies, and less work since AP exams and the majority of the other standardized tests are completed. It also feels different that the school year is ending in almost mid-June, since typically it feels like it ends closer to the first week of June.
As the clock ticks down until June 10th, be prepared to tighten your backpack and lug it around for a few more days. To relieve the pain, other students prescribe planning a get-together with friends to celebrate the end of the year, and staying out in the sun. Happy studying!!!
