Cassandra Jehly (’16) and Olga Boukhvalova (’17) of BCHS and Jacob Bane (’16) are the 3 cadets who have been chosen to attend prestigious summer programs at military academies.

Recently, three of the Waukesha Composite Squadron’s cadets were accepted to attend prestigious military academy summer programs, a rare occasion this squadron has never experienced.

Cadet Senior Master Sergeant Cassandra Jehly, a junior here at Brookfield Central High School, was accepted into the Air force Academy Summer seminar.

Specially designed for high school juniors heading into their senior year, Summer Seminar allows participants to see a realistic slice of cadet life. Summer Seminar at the United States Air Force Academy offers a unique opportunity to get the Academy experience first-hand. During the Summer Seminar program, participants will do the following: Live in cadet dormitories and eat at the cadet dining facility, explore academic majors through workshops taught by Academy faculty members in subjects ranging from aeronautics to humanities, and participate in a variety of physical fitness activities including a practice Candidate Fitness Assessment.

Cadet First Lieutenant Olga Boukhvalova, a sophomore here at BC, was accepted into the Naval Academy Summer STEM Program – Science Technology Engineering Mathematics.

The Naval Academy Summer STEM Program is offered to high school freshman and sophomores. Students must demonstrate superior academic performance including GPA, class standing, and/or strong PSAT, SAT or ACT results. STEM attendees will gain exposure to the number five “Best Undergraduate Engineering Program” in the country, as ranked by U.S. News & World Report, spend time in world-class lab facilities that provide a unique learning environment outside the traditional classroom, and experience real-life application of math and science principles through hands on practical learning.

Cadet First Lieutenant Jacob Bane from Mukwonago was accepted into the Naval Academy Summer seminar.

The United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar is a fast-paced, six-day experience for high achievers who have completed their junior year in high school. Summer Seminar teaches participants about life at the Naval Academy, where academics, athletics, and professional training play equally important roles in developing our nation’s leaders academies.

We also congratulate Cadet First Lieutenant Olga Boukhvalova on being awarded the Col Mary Feik scholarship! Flight scholarship like this one help cadets attain a private pilot’s license to work towards their future goals in aviation.

Here is the official letter to Cadet First Lieutenant Olga Boukhvalova from the National Head Quarters Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program Manager Steven J.Trupp:

“Congratulations!  I want to commend you on your superior academic, citizenship, and Civil Air Patrol achievements, entitling you to a Col Mary Feik Flight scholarship.  We received over 400 scholarship applications this year, and competition was extremely keen. Your selection for a scholarship is an honor of which you should be proud.”

Congratulations cadets, and keep up the good work.
