As another Grammy Award show came and went, rising artists showcased their talents, justifying their nominations and wins. This year’s momentous event featured emerging talents like KATSEYE, Olivia Dean, Sombr, and many more. Let’s give a rundown on the night’s highlights.
Bad Bunny, who began his career on the streets of Puerto Rico, has turned into one of the most beloved Latin singers of our time. After agreeing to perform the halftime show later that week, he took the opportunity to express to the American public the beauty of Latin culture and heritage. His latest album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, picked up Album of the Year. Not only did it pick up that enormous award, but it also made history in tandem as it was the first time in Grammy history that a Spanish-speaking album was awarded that honor.
Kendrick Lamar, the artist who many Americans first saw at last year’s Super Bowl Halftime show, did not lose his momentum. He gained 5 more Grammy wins, piggybacking off his success last year. With these newfound 5 wins, Lamar now becomes the highest awarded Rap Artist in Grammy history, beating Jay-Z by 2 wins. One of his bigger hits that landed him awards was Luther (ft. SZA). SZA, who many Americans also saw singing with Lamar at the Halftime show, had been a consistent collaborator with Lamar and has played a significant role in his achievements.
Many new artists also made their debuts at the 2026 Grammys. Artists like Sombr, Addison Rae, The Marias, Alex Warren, and Leon Thomas were all nominated for their surprising rise to the music industry. The category of Best New Artist had never been more competitive. However, there was only one true artist who dominated the public’s hearts and ears that year: Olivia Dean. After her album The Art of Loving came out shortly before the deadline to be considered for nominations, the album quickly rose on the charts and settled at number 5. Her hit song Man I Need, is a timeless classic that can’t help but pull at every listener’s heartstrings.
Finally, the motion picture that made waves. “K-Pop Demon Hunters” surprised almost every American that year. What was supposed to be a film made for younger ages soon turned into a massive franchise that garnered support and love from every age. The way that everyone could relate to the bouncy melodic tracks generated huge responses from the public. These responses led the girl band in the movie: HUNTR/X to grace many stages, including performing on live television at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. And to no one’s surprise, the Track Golden By HUNTR/X won by a landslide in Best Song written for Visual Media.
Overall, this year’s Grammy Awards were nothing short of momentous. Amazing new artists emerging into the industry, mixed with a huge amount of support for singers from every background culminated in a show that is sure to go down as a milestone in Grammy’s history.
