November 17: the 99-member Brookfield Central varsity football team and Lancer super fans stormed Camp Randall for the Division Two WIAA State Final.

The team was led by head coach Jed Kennedy and captains Reggie Jennings (‘18), Zach Heckman (‘18), CJ Heaney (‘18) and Nick Leszczynski (‘18). The team was given energetic send-offs by the Booster Club parents and Brookfield Central’s own student body. Shortly after the football team departed, hundreds of students piled onto fan buses to take the buses to Madison.

The first touchdown of the game, a nine-yard run in the first quarter, was made by quarterback Leszczynski, and despite a missed field-goal kick, the positive shouts and cheers of the immense BC student section reverberated across the entire

After the second touchdown of a complete pass from Leszczynski to Heckman and with the Brookfield Central football team in the lead, the crowd leaned back for the two halftime performances. The Brookfield Central Band and Colorguard performed a James Bond medley, and the Lancerettes captivated the crowd with a performance to Let There Be Love by Christina Aguilera, choreographed by Madison Long (‘18), Catherine Durham (‘18), Bella Labrasca (‘18) and Lauren Stollberg (‘18).

During the fourth quarter, however, Waunakee managed to execute a reverse sweep and score two touchdowns, putting them at 14-13—one point ahead of Brookfield Central. Central failed to score another touchdown, and the game concluded with 14 points to Waunakee and 13 to Central.

Regardless, the Lancer nation should be proud of this incredible and memorable football season, and they will continue to support the football team in their many achievements.
