The city of Brookfield’s German Holiday Market marks the beginning of the holiday season for many Brookfield residents. A two-day festival, commencing on Friday, December 5th and continuing on December 6th, brings light and cheer to the freezing conditions of Brookfield, WI.
The annual German Holiday Market contains a lot of the cherished Christmas traditions that Brookfield residents love. Families and children will wait in long lines to get pictures and a long-awaited time with Santa in the tent. In addition to the beloved Santa cameo, there is also a plethora of eager musicians ready to grace the stage of the German Holiday Market. The beginning of these festive medleys started right at home with our very own BCHS band and choir fulfilling the first two slots. Following the performances from Brookfield Central were numerous other acts, including MYSO performers, dance collectives, and Musical Theater groups.
To go along with the performances, a room full of local vendors and holiday stands awaits customers as they wander around the tent. These stands include selling festive goods and bites. Among the numerous vendors were Afterglow Soap and Candle Co, Alaska Fresh Seafood, Mabel Sweet Perfections, Tabal Chocolate, and Awakening Flower Farm. In addition to these vendors, consumers also had a choice from the German Holiday Market Main Menu, which ranged from Pork Schnitzel to Beer Cheese soup.
At 5:55 on December 6th, at the commencement of the Market, the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony would be held with Mayor Ponto. To conclude the two nights of holiday festivities and cheer, the Tree lighting symbolizes the beginning of the Holiday season for Brookfield residents and marks the bittersweet end of a cherished and beloved Brookfield tradition.
