Stephanie Chen, Head EiC

Stephanie Chen is currently a senior at BCHS, the head Editor in Chief of Tyro and is also involved in: Battle of the Books, DECA, Math Club, Science Bowl, Science Olympiad, Piano, and Violin. Stephanie has a pet dog named Gypsy.

I initially joined Tyro in search of a club related to writing, but I came to enjoy the process of gathering information for and writing articles. As I became more involved in Tyro, I was able to experience the time and effort that everyone puts in to create the final product, and I think, at the end of the day, that is what convinced me to stay.

A variety of StuCo members pose for a photo in Target where they are buying gifts for families who cannot afford them. The Chirstmas Clearing Council collects money from classrooms the week before Christmas break to afford the presents and the event is a favorite among StuCo members. These service events are just one of the many reasons BC was awarded the Spirit of Excellence Award

The 2019 Distinguished Young Woman of Wisconsin, BCHS alumn Amy Keane (‘19), presents Riley Feng (‘20) with the title of 2020 Distinguished Young Woman of Wisconsin. Feng will be competiting again in June. “I loved state week so getting to go to nationals will be super fun,” said Feng.

Vera Fong (21) wraps a dumpling filled with chicken and greens, like many others at the event. Eating the dumplings was my favorite part, but it was fun to learn how to make them and the outcome was very rewarding, Maggie Butz (19) says. In Chinese Club, members participate in various activities that deal with the Chinese culture, such as visiting Chinatown in Chicago, playing traditional games (like the popular Chinese version of hackysack), and watching Chinese movies. Their next meeting will be November 15, Thursday, and it will be held in Lan Lao Shis room.

This marked the second of three consecutive beach days after the family stay, the first being at the Pont du Gard. The students enjoyed fourty-five minutes out at sea. Those brave enough to sit at the rail were sprayed with cold, Mediterranean water during the rockier portions of the ride.
