DECA trip

DECA+trip

This year, Brookfield Central had thirteen students qualify for ICDC. These students include Aileen Herman (’16), Brandon Fong (’14), Gabby Tierney (’14), Katie Pitterle (’14), and BC DECA’s President Brooke Price (’14). Many two member teams also qualified: Andrea Mertens (’14) and Tori Reives (’14), David Nemcek (’15) and Daniel Lee (’15), Courtney Severance (’15) and Olivia Walleser (’15), and Bradley Bartelt (’15) and Julia Thistle (’15), will all be competing in various events at the conference as well. Just a few of the categories include Entrepreneurship Written, Marketing Communications Team Decision Making, and Apparel and Accessories.

For many of the students in DECA however, the most exciting part about the conference is where it is being held. This year, ICDC will be held in Atlanta, Georgia. This will allow the students to explore the city in a multitude of ways over the course of their six day trip. The club will be visiting Six Flags Great America Atlanta, and will participate in a DECA 5K. Students will also tour CNN headquarters, the world of Coca Cola, and the Olympic Park from the 1996 summer Olympics in Atlanta. In addition, BC DECA will get to attend a private party at the Georgia Aquarium. But students are also looking forward to the conference itself. Throughout the trip, guest speakers will be talking to all of the attendees. Brooke Price (’14) stated that she is most looking forward to the opening session, in which everyone at the conference will be gathered together for the first time.

The club will begin its journey on May 2, and return to school on May 7. The students will compete and take written tests throughout the week. Brookfield Central is very proud to have so many students who have qualified for this honored event.
